In this year’s summer tire test staged by the leading German, Austrian and Swiss automobile clubs together with consumer organization Stiftung Warentest, the ContiPremiumContact 5 emerged with the highest rating awarded. In the test for 185/60 R 14 tires for compact cars, the ContiPremiumContact 5 scored top marks for wet and dry handling, demonstrating good wet-weather properties as it finished best in test. The tire experts described it as “a very balanced summer tire”. In the test for 205/55 R 16 tires for compact to mid-range models, the ContiPremiumContact 5 was also rated “good” – the highest rating awarded. Top marks for dry-weather performance and good wet-weather properties led to a “very balanced summer tire” verdict for this size as well.
The experts tested a total of 35 tires in the two sizes 185/60 R 14 and 205/55 R 16. The test vehicles were two Volkswagens: a Polo and a Golf VII. The test included tires from European, US and Asian manufacturers.
