Continental, one of the world`s leading tire manufacturer and automotive supplier, is making progress in setting foot into the mysterious Southeast Asia. In 2014, Continental has started the distribution of passenger car tires in Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Myanmar. Continental officially announced its entry to the market in Colombo, Sri Lanka in September 2014. A brand launch event was successfully held along with a selected local partner, Douglas & Sons (PVT) Ltd., which is one of Sri Lanka’s largest tire distributors. Two weeks later, another brand launch was held in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, along with Bahn Auto, a leading Vietnam business house. In the meantime Continental successfully made its appearance at MYANAUTO 2014 in Myanmar together with the newly appointed distributor TA Resources. “We do see great potential in the APAC region for us. Based on our leading German tire technology, the new tire lines have been designed especially for the Asia Pacific region and are further customized for delivering the required performance to APAC car drivers”, stated Antonio Lopes Seabra, Executive Vice-President and Head of the Business Unit Replacement Asia Pacific for PLT tires at Continental.

Continental continuously contributes to enhancing driving safety and riding comfort by providing innovative solutions and excellent products that are based on leading German technology since 1871. The tire manufacturer aims to bring more driving fun to a broader audience also in the Asia Pacific region. The provided products are based on comprehensive market research from which the requirements car drivers in the APAC region have been derived. One finding was that consumers are dealing with all kinds of road conditions all the time and another that Asian drivers require comfort a lot.

Therefore the premium product lines “ContiMaxContact MC5” and “ContiComfortContact CC5” have been developed especially with a focus on these performance criteria and both are equipped with specific tire technology solutions. The ContiComfortContact CC5 for example has an innovative noise breaker from silent tread pattern groove technology while ContiMaxContact MC5 delivers an excellent high speed handling. The premium technology level is proven by the fact that the products do not need to compromise on other criteria - neither braking performance nor comfort.
